Pressure to be Thin

I have a challenge for you, for an entire day keep track of the number of times you hear or see references to dieting. Count conversations, commercials, products you walk by in the store, TV shows and so on. I will do it too. You may be surprised to discover how much pressure there is for thinness coming at us from all sides every day. What a message this sends to our teenagers!

I'm anxious to hear your results.

I haven't done the challenge, but with the holidays coming, I've been noticing many more commercials on the radio about dieting, etc. There's even a commercial here that starts with husbands talking together about how awesome and gorgeous their wives looked after consulting with Dr. So & So. The ad was for breast augmentation and liposuction. They went on to say how affordable it was, etc.

I think the whole ad is disgusting. If you're not married to someone who loves you no matter how much you weigh (and I've fluctuated from 100 lbs when we got married to 200 lbs after 4 children) then you are married to the wrong guy (IMHO)

I am lucky to have a hubby who thinks I'm gorgeous no matter what. Even when I did decide to start exercising and learn to eat better to lose weight to be healthier, the whole time he never once asked me how much I weighed, what I ate that day, or if I had exercised. He just supported me and never said no when I was craving a hot fudge sundae from McD's. :)

No matter where you are with your weight, remember to be as healthy as possible and that you are a child of God.

Thank you so much for your comment Danyelle. I agreed with you 100%. I've noticed in past years the diet commercials are extra bad in Jan. because they are targeting people who make losing weight a new year's resolution. Also when summer hits is another time they get worse telling people they need to get "swim suit ready."

I am also blessed with an amazing husband who never judges or worries about my weight or what I eat, he just loves me like crazy no matter what and I to him.
How lucky we are!
